In soul mate or twin flame recognition there is often a strong, magnetic attraction felt towards another person.
Such as feeling as though you've known this person forever or across many lifetimes. This can often result in an awakening experience that may be considered "supernatural," or spiritual by nature. Often involving an opening of the third-eye chakra
Here, I'm going to outline a few experiences often described by people experiencing the twin flame union for the first time
The run up to meeting your twin flame
A feeling, or intuition, that somebody is about to enter your life. This "knowing" is often coinciding with a particularly challenging, fragile time in life.
Often these difficult periods are referred to as:
The Dark Night Of The Soul
The dark night of the soul is a period where often spiritual awakening can follow rapidly
People may describe themselves as "at a cross roads". Or having to make a choice or decision on what path to take. A new chapter of life about to happen
Dreaming about a person vividly, such that you can recall details very clearly - hair, face, skin, body shape, tone of voice. Or a dream that is out of the ordinary and more vivid then usual
Unusual circumstances that lead you to a place or person that would not have seemed likely. For example, through a last minute change of heart or circumstance
Meeting your Twin Flame
Instant recognition. As if you have known this person forever, or through many lifetimes. Incredible familiarity
Intense physical & sexual attraction towards this person. If you touch it is intense!
A sense this person can read you mind, finish your sentences
This person is holding a mirror up to you reflecting back your best character traits as well as your worst. The worst reflected back at you will feel like you are being scrutinized under a microscope! This can lead to deep discomfort, as if the other is seeing the darkest parts of you that you would rather keep under wraps!
Flashbacks of past lives, that may seem very "supernatural". Involving details about past lives, that the Twin Flame also experiences simultaneously
Intense feelings rushing to the surface, causing fear (fear is the opposite of love) which threatens the union very early on
If the twin flames are very balanced and mature & have worked through many of their own personal issues & insecurities, the union has a chance to return to balance.
However, the primary aim of the Twin Flame union is to WAKE YOU UP!
For many if not most unions, the encounter will at some point lead to the Runner/Chaser dynamic.
This can happen very soon after the first meeting, or a while later. However, owing to the intensity of the union, it can happen pretty fast!
The Runner/Chaser dynamic
The Runner Chaser Dynamic ensues. The feelings of intense familiarity and flashbacks of past lives and/or being able to read the person's mind, can lead to feelings of being overwhelmed by the other person in the Twin Flame union.
A feeling of being engulfed
The Runner/Chaser dynamic is integral to the Twin Flame encounter. One of the twin flames will want to run and break off the union. It usually takes the other twin flame by surprise.
Spiritual Ascension & The Shadow
The purpose of this dynamic is to set in motion spiritual ascension.
For each person in the twin fame union to work on themselves energetically by purging the aspects of themselves they denied when it was mirrored back.
This is know as dealing with the shadow aspect.
The parts of us we have not yet made whole. To be whole, we have to integrate the shadow - and that is the real point of the twin flame union.
To be whole as individuals so we can be whole within the twin flame union which is a very high vibration of love.
To hold this higher aspect of love we have to be the highest aspect of ourselves first
The twin flame union is relevant to reiki because it is all about energy. All relationships, with ourselves and others, relates back to energy.
Healthy relationships have a high energy signature. Challenging relationships and unhealthy relationship patterns can have a low or dense energy. They keep us reliving the shadow without ever transmuting it
Reiki healing sessions can help to raise our energy and bring balance to the body physically as well as mentally and spiritually. In this way we can integrate the shadow within ourselves by being conscious of how we integrate thoughts & emotions which effect energy.
