In Usui reiki, clearing a space is important before starting a reiki session or beginning a reiki class.
Space clearing using reiki healing is done to eliminate stagnant energy - energy that is no longer helpful, no longer serving a purpose - from a space. This can be any kind of space. A room in a home, an office, a car. Even a place that is outdoors can be cleared
For reiki purposes, it is usually a room the reiki is practiced in.
The traditional Usui Reiki invocation is:
"Dear Master Usui & all available reiki masters,
Please assist me in becoming a pure channel of loving reiki energy
And please provide me with the protection that I need"
In eliminating unwanted energies from a space, the space is thus enclosed or protected for reiki healing to begin. A reiki session or a reiki workshop Dublin
The intention being to cleanse space with the wisdom of the reiki lineage starting with Master Usui, the founding father of reiki, and his intention to create healing. The wisdom of reiki is focused in the space.
As ever, intention is everything in reiki. Simply asking is enough to bring the healing energies into a space, and dissolve lower energy immediately.
The reiki space is then cleared with the reiki symbols.
Added to the reiki prayer, can be the reiki practitioner's own words. For example, calling on other aspects of light. Or other light based energies the practitioner is already familiar with, to help with the clearing process.
For many hundreds of years, flowers, plants & minerals or crystals have also been used for space clearing also
Sage has been used to clear spaces. For example, Clary sage was used by American Indians. Also, pure tobacco can be used.
Also, the reiki practitioner can use their own intuition and be drawn to scents that have a history of purification. For example, I love to use rose oil in my diffuser - rose being a flower of purity, also used for heart-chakra opening. Also, frankincense is a beautiful smelling stone that can be burned, letting off a rich scent with its smoke. At Christmas time, I love to use the distinctive sweet smell of cinnamon in my diffuser. Whatever scent the reiki practitioner is drawn to will be of service in cleansing a space!
Crystals can also be used to clear space. Crystals are energy held in physical form, just like we are! Their physical properties are the purest on earth and so, when cleansed, are able to clear a space whilst also magnifying the new energies. Clear quartz crystal is especially good at intensifying "pure" clean new energies in a space.
Added to this, it can be a good idea to intentionally bring in the 4 natural elements into the space, creating a sense of wholeness & balance, also giving equal importance to the chakras - from crown to roots.
Earth, water, air & fire.
I do this by bringing in crystals (earth) or a potted plant (earth) or feathers (earth). A vase of flowers (earth & water). The diffuser which dispenses water in in the form of steam (water). I also light candles (fire). Finally, air is present in the cleared space of course!
Special attention to earth based elements in the form of plants & flowers particularly emphasizes the importance of grounding when dealing with high vibration energies of reiki & other forms of healing energy.
It is amazing to feel a space cleared. It uplifts & provides an atmosphere of deep peace & harmony. To me it feels like a "thickening" or intensifying of light.
