I described in my last blog post how an awakening experience can often happen after a life changing event, or as a succession of experiences over a short period of time. How a reiki session can help bring balance to someone experiencing a lot of awakening symptoms!
When giving reiki to someone who has experienced a lot of energetic changes in a short space of time, the energy centers of the body feel very "open" & receptive.
Usually, the aura, & energy around the crown, feels as if it is in its own protective bubble. When someone's crown has suddenly been opened, there is often a dynamic exchange of energy.
The energy of the crown may feel as though it is extending further out than usual.
There may be a sense of elongation as it extends out.
In addition to a feeling of expansion at the crown, there may be a sense that the energy emanating from the crown is joining with an intense flow of energy that is directly entering through the crown.
As such, there may be a meeting point between the person's own energy and other energy. It can feel a little like a stream of energy. A current of "water" that can be moving quite rapidly!
It can be very beautiful to experience this intense flow of energy as a reiki practitioner.
A sudden influx of energy through the crown chakra can feel intense for a person to experience. It can feel like a lot of downloads or information flooding the system.
Alongside this intense energetic exchange, I often receive images of transformation.
For example, this may be a picture of the phoenix rising from the ashes. Or an image of a butterfly. (The butterfly is a universal symbol for the soul & transformative experiences since the butterfly changes from a caterpillar!)
The snake can also be a powerful & dramatic symbol of transformation, as a snake periodically changes its skin. It is also linked with the fire element since snakes heat their body by lying on hot rocks & fire
There may often be images of fire which is a transformative element. Fire images may be as regular orange & yellow flame, but also blue & violet flame.
As ever, the images received are deeply personal to the reiki practitioner, as well as the person receiving the reiki healing energy.
The color of any symbol that comes into awareness through the third-eye chakra is important to note as it gives information about which chakra will most likely be affected by the experience, and the quality or tone of the energy coming into the person's awareness.
In the instance of crown opening, grounding may be important.
Grounding & stabilization can be obtained through the solar-plexus, sacral & root chakra.
The more a person opens to receive energy through the crown, the more they must receive energy through the roots. This way, the energy is balanced.
Like a tree as it grows long roots extending into the earth, this in turn allows the canopy of the tree to unfurl and extend further. Nature seeks balance & harmony.
A principal of reiki is that there can never be too much or too little reiki given in any session. Reiki healing energy adjusts itself perfectly.
Although a person may also experience openings through the crown as a direct result of a reiki session, any chakra opening during a reiki session will be to bring greater balance.
Some people also have naturally more open crowns than others. This is normal too.
Reiki and other forms of energy healing can help balance energy moving through the main energy centers of the body. Reiki comes from the word REI (universal life force KI (energy). Reiki was dicovered by Master Usui in Japan in 1910, and Mikao Usui is the founding father of Reiki
